This message is being sent to the parents/guardians of Jemez Valley Elementary School regarding the end-of-year Field Day Celebration. On June 7th starting at 8:20 a.m., the elementary students (grades PreK to 5th) will participate in a Field Day Celebration. This event will include outdoor activities and water play. To ensure students are prepared for a morning of fun, please make sure your student has/wears the following: - wears a dominant white shirt - wears sunblock and a hat - brings a water bottle, towel and change of clothes It would be helpful if you send the water bottle, towel and change of clothes with your student to school prior to June 7th. Please make sure the items are placed in a bag labeled with your student's name and grade. Please note this event is for current Jemez Valley Elementary School students, both in-person and virtual learners. Parents of virtual students, please contact the school office prior to June 7th if your student will participate. On the event day, virtual learning students must be checked in at the school office.

To ensure our students have a safe and fun end of the school year, the following measures will be effective as follows: In-person students must return all devices, textbooks and band instruments tomorrow, June 1st. If needed, the student will have access to their device while on campus. The use of backpacks by students will not be allowed starting Thursday, June 2nd. Small personal items needed by students can be brought in a clear bag. Backpacks and bags of any type will not be allowed into any school functions by guests/visitors starting June 1st. All campus events on June 7th are for current in-person and virtual students only. For elementary school students, please disregard the need to bring sunblock, a towel, an extra set of clothes, and a water bottle. Sunblock and bottled water will be provided by the schools for events on June 7th. JVPS staff will continue to routinely check all entrances and exits for locked doors. Please note all of these measures are being taken out of an abundance of caution. Jemez Valley is in the process of advertising for a JVPS school resource officer. A survey regarding this position will be sent in the near future. In the recent days, staff have observed an increase of energy drinks brought to school by students. Please note energy drinks are not allowed. Effective tomorrow, June 1st, only bottled water will be allowed by students. Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated.
